Prof. Carlos Montez

Short Bio

Being from Rio de Janeiro, I had my bachelor degree in Computing Science at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) in 1989. I have some professional experience by working in software development companies in Rio de Janeiro. I pursued my Computing Science master’s degree in 1995 and my Electrical Engineering doctorate in 1999, both at UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina).  Since 2002 I’m an associate professor at Federal University of Santa Catarina in the Control and Automation Course and Pos-graduation in Automation and Systems Engineering course from UFSC, and currently I am the head of Automation and Systems Department (DAS) at UFSC.

Today: Wireless Sensor Networks, IEEE 802.15.4, real-time data fusion. real-time systems, real-time scheduling.
Recent past: Multimedia, real-time middleware, CORBA, Interactive Digital TV, Datacasting and Real-time Java.

Scientific production

I was the advisor of about 22 master’s students and 8 doctoral students. In the last years, since 2012, I have published 15 papers in indexed international journals and more than 20 papers in Brazilian and international conferences. I co-authored the first Brazilian book on Interactive Digital TV, which in its two editions has more than 280 citations in Google Scholar.
